چکیده

This paper describes an experimental study of thermal contact conductance enhancement enabled by carbon nanotube (CNT) arrays synthesized directly on silicon wafers using plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition. Testing based on the one-dimensional reference bar method occurred in a high-vacuum environment with radiation shielding, and temperature measurements were made with an infrared camera. Results from other thermal interface materials are presented, as well as combinations of these materials with CNT arrays. Dry CNT arrays produce a minimum thermal interface resistance of 19.8 mm K/W, while the combination of a CNT array and a phase change material produces a minimum resistance of 5.2 mm K/W. 2005 Elsevier Ltd. Increased real contact in thermal interfaces: A carbon nanotube/foil material

The thermal performance of an interface material comprised of a metal foil with dense, vertically oriented carbon nanotube CNT arrays synthesized on both of its surfaces is characterized for rough and smooth interfaces. The CNT/foil deforms in the interfaces by two mechanisms, CNT deformation and foil deformation, that may significantly increase the number of CNT contact spots on both sides of ...

Enhanced Efficiency in Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells by Electron Transport and Light Scattering on Freestanding TiO2 Nanotube Arrays

Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) were fabricated with closed- or open-ended freestanding TiO₂ nanotube arrays as photoelectrodes that were decorated with carbon materials and large TiO₂ nanoparticles (NPs) to enhance energy conversion efficiency. The energy conversion efficiency of DSSCs based on open-ended freestanding TiO₂ nanotube arrays increased from 4.47% to 5.39%, compared to the DSSCs...

Palladium Thiolate Bonding of Carbon Nanotube Thermal Interfaces

Carbon nanotube (CNT) arrays can be effective thermal interface materials with high compliance and conductance over a wide temperature range. Here, we study CNT interface structures in which free CNT ends are bonded using Pd hexadecanethiolate, Pd(SC16H35)2, to an opposing substrate (one-sided interface) or opposing CNT array (two-sided interface) to enhance contact conductance while maintainin...
